Terms
The plain terms. No fine print games.
Last updated: 20 July 2026
This is the agreement between you and Chromilla for using the app. We have kept it as short and as honest as a legal page can be. If something here reads unclear, tell us on the Feedback page and we will fix the wording.
What Chromilla is
Chromilla is a colour-matching tool. You give it a colour (a photo, a scan, or a hex value) and it works out a paint mixing ratio to get you there, using the paint brands and pigment data in our catalog.
Match accuracy is an estimate, not a guarantee
Chromilla's match percentage compares the calculated dry colour against your target. It is built to be as honest as possible about how close a mix will land, but real paint varies: pigment lots differ between tubes, lighting changes how a colour reads, and screens and printers don't all show colour the same way. Treat every ratio as a strong starting point, not a certainty. We will always tell you when a match is weak rather than round it up.
Using Chromilla without an account
The free mixer is open to use without signing up, up to a usage limit (currently 15 camera scans and 25 mixes). Past that, we'll ask you to create a free account to keep going.
Creating an account
You can sign up with an email address or with Google sign-in. You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for what happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has access to it. You need to be 16 or older to create an account. If you're signing up on behalf of someone younger, you confirm you have the right to do so.
Free and paid plans
Chromilla offers a free plan (saved formulas, up to 8 in your Mix Journal) and a Chromilla Pro with every tool unlocked, billed through Stripe. The Chromilla Pro starts with a 14-day free trial: we ask for a card upfront, but you are not charged until day 14. Cancel any time before then from your account page and you won't be charged. After the trial, it continues at the price shown on the Pricing page (currently $8.99/month), until you cancel.
Cancelling and refunds
You can cancel a paid plan at any time from your account page, in one click. Cancelling stops future billing, it does not refund the period you've already paid for. If something went wrong on our end (a billing error, a feature that didn't work as described), get in touch on the Feedback page and we will make it right.
Your content
Photos and camera frames you use to pick a colour are processed on your device and are not uploaded to us (see the Privacy page). Formulas, notes, and feedback you save to your account remain yours. By saving them, you give us permission to store and display them back to you as part of the service, and to use anonymised, aggregated versions (never your raw content) to improve match accuracy for everyone.
What belongs to us
The Chromilla app, the paint catalog data, the matching engine, the brand (name, logo, wordmark), and the site content belong to Chromilla. You can use them through the app as intended. You can't scrape the catalog, copy the matching engine, resell access to the tool, or use the Chromilla name or logo without asking first.
Acceptable use
Use Chromilla the way it's built to be used. Don't try to break it, overload it, reverse engineer it, or use it to build a competing product from our data. Don't use it for anything illegal. We can suspend or close an account that does any of this.
No warranty beyond what we promise above
Outside of the match accuracy honesty described above, Chromilla is provided as is. We work to keep it available and correct, but we don't promise it will be error-free or uninterrupted.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Chromilla isn't liable for indirect losses (like wasted paint or a project that didn't turn out as hoped) arising from using a mixing ratio. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or 100 USD if you're on the free plan.
Ending this agreement
You can stop using Chromilla and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms or the acceptable use section above. If we ever discontinue Chromilla entirely, we will give notice and a chance to export your data first.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will call it out plainly on this page and update the date at the top, the same approach as the Privacy page.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Norway, and any dispute will be handled by the courts there, without regard to conflict of law rules.
Questions?
If something here is unclear, get in touch and we will explain it plainly. Terms should not need a lawyer to read.
