Dusty pink is a pink that's been muted, not lightened, and the mistake is reaching for white and grey when what you actually need is a touch of the pink's complement (a muted green) to take the sweetness out. White alone just gives you a paler, still-sweet pink. A small amount of a neutral earth tone alongside the pink gets the dustiness right without flattening the colour.
